Where Is .rtf Saved In Word For Mac 2011
There have been various reports of problems with RTF but this one doesn't seem to have been reported by anyone else. When saving an Open Office Writer file (ODT) as RTF, the first word of a sentence is sometimes missing. The original document, a c.v., was created under MS Word 2000 and saved as a.DOC. The document had been amended many times. On moving to Linux, the document was opened in Writer and saved as an ODT.

The RTF document appeared to be ok at the point it was saved but, when closed and opened (by double-clicking the RTF file) several words were missing. Very strange. I updated my Office for Mac 2011 to version 14.1.4 in December when it became available. And while I generally create Word docs in RTF format (since it saves huge amounts in doc size), I am able to open.docx docs in Word without issue. On the other hand, when I used Word 98 up until recently (and 95% of my saved docs are in that format), whenever I'd get a doc with the.docx extension, I had to have the originator resend in plain.doc or.rtf format in order not to get a blank doc. So there may be something going on here which is similar. According Word Help: Some new features in Word can cause a document to look different when it is viewed by using an earlier version of Word.

A couple of weeks ago I sent my CV to someone who asked that I send him a Rich Text version.
I opened up my CV, created in Word for OSX, saved it as a Rich Text file and sent it to him. Ever since then, whenever I create a document on my machine, people I send it to tell me that I can not open it. The extension is clearly *.doc, but when I tried to upload it to Monster.co.uk, I was told that it was in Rich Text Format. When I upload it as an attachment, it says it is text/richtext. When I initially saved the document as RTF, it gave me some warning, which I ignored. I have since tried resaving it as a *.doc and I get the same problem.
